A male Summer Tanager who hatched out last summer can have some interesting looks. They will have red feathers and yellow feathers in varying proportions and in varying locations. This one might be called the Red-banded Tanager.

I think it might have been the first day back on the summer territory for this male Painted Bunting, since he was singing from a hidden perch, perhaps to keep out of sight of another male Painted Bunting in the area. But it was great to hear that voice again!
