I've seen so many countless pop:art images of the Campbell's canned soup. Come on, I want to taste it! Do we have a hub page for Merveilles? The About page of Hometown is not a good fit for it. The hub page should link all the resources. From head, I remember at least Hometown, Lemmy, Cerca, Lieu instances. Also, the donation resources. Have to list them all! If we do not have one, we can make it! Hosting a couple of static pages on Sourcehut Pages is not hard. @bouncepaw We do have some docs describing some things, but not everything, right on GitHub! https://github.com/merveilles/The-Town It has our guidelines listed out, docs about the tooling and stuff the Mastodon instances uses, and more. What's missing: links to our forum, our Matrix channels, a few of our other decentralized spaces. Definitely encourage folks to put up a PR with links to these places, even I forget where everything is located sometimes! @bouncepaw I plan to try drawing a simple one also, but I've been pretty swamped this week, so in the meantime I'd like to submit this one, sincerely and in the Merveilles spirit: b n d Showed my friends The Lighthouse (2019), thus I rewatched it. A good film, albeit with a lot of content warnings. I've seen a picture of an old woman's neck and face. It was captioned that she applied sunscreen on her face for whole life, but not on the neck. The face looked quite young, but the neck was very old-looking. You know. I guess using sunscreen is a good idea? Are there any caveats? @bouncepaw suncreen is great for your skin and does more then any moisturizer or anti-aging beauty product since it blocks uv light that directly causes your skin to appear aged, the caveat is you won't tan as much lol @bouncepaw there are some open questions about particular chemicals' larger environmental impact so it's a bit worth researching and being picky about exactly *what* sunscreen to use if you can, but the topline remains "use sunscreen" as far as I've learned I totally forgot what the feeling of downloading a new game is. Only couple of games gave me strong emotions for the past 5 years. I guess it's time to buy a new power supply (mine has an issue with 12V line) and download some good old game from my library @flancian gifted me a wonderful book called I am a Strange Loop by Douglas Hofstadter (thank you again!). Started reading it today! Just a little: haven't finished the preface yet, but it seems the book is gonna be awesome. I really like that the part before the actual book has a different numeration system, so as to not interfere. I also like how this exact book travelled half the world to get to me. @bouncepaw I really like that book! I'd also recommend "Gödel, Escher, Bach" by the same author, if you wind up liking it as well. @bouncepaw do iiiiit!!! it's my fave artistic medium. 🖤 OK, so here's the plan. This summer I want to make a one-minute-long voice-acted animation, introducing some concepts from my conworld. Ishmael meeting Conductor on the way to Questioner might be a good story. Of course, hand-drawn first. Probably digitally colored; that's a skill I'm yet to learn. Perhaps I'll need some help with voice acting. When I speak English, I add extra sounds for no particular reason. It makes it harder to understand me. @bouncepaw I love the russian english accent, and find it way easier to adjust to then french or spanish english accent
