Email vs Capitalism. A very nice talk with a great delivery on emails history and some technical details (smtp, mime parts, standard implementations). https://youtu.be/mrGfahzt-4Q I didn't share it anywhere publicly yet, but I already received around 2000โฌ of donations (including open collective and private) for the last couple of months. It's a huge support, unbelievable and heartwarming experience. It gives me hope and time to keep doing what is important and right. I still need more help, so please read this page: https://trop.in/support It's NOT ONLY about the financial ways to support me, my FOSS work and projects we work on. @abcdw hey sorry, that on IRC sounded like a scam, I realize that now. Writing here in case you blocked me there. What I said was in reply to this and was honest. Can someone host me in Abu-Dhabi for two days? 15-17 December? Will appreciate it very much. On my 30th birthday I will be doing a visa run to get 30 more days of life in a rainy forest. Sometimes I doubt my life choices (:

Published my EmacsConf 2023 talk about new Guile Scheme IDE on my channel: https://youtu.be/F-H3YQywr-4 You can find Q&A in etherpad: Feel free to ask more, anywhere you feel comfortable to. What Guix channel are the IDE components in? I couldn't find them in the regular Guix channel. Arei, Guile IDE for Emacs is available in Guix! guix shell emacs-pgtk emacs-arei -- emacs The respective RPC (nREPL) server can be started with: guix shell guile-next guile-ares-rs -- \ Try it out, give your feedback and boost the post if you enjoyed :) I fought FOMO (fear of missing out) so hard that I missed my Q&A for EmacsConf 2023 (: The talk was about Guile Scheme IDE: I would really love to hear your feedback and questions, so if you have some, post it here or reach me out via https://trop.in/contact Kudos to @sachac and the organizers team for making such a great conference.

Fantastic stuff, it is great for guile that clients can be created for other editors. Just some ideas for an IDE: Wonderful talk, Andrew! I think this is an excellent path forward for Scheme development. Restarting continuations was particularly interesting--it suggests a really nice path for interactive development where you don't have to reset state. Ok, my final email provider destination seems to become https://migadu.com. I wanted to go for it for a long time and after a couple more hours exploring their site and having a few talks with migadu team I can say it aligns with my vibe and views perfectly and will work for me in terms of limits for patch series and reviews too. I restored the mailbox from a 1 week old backup, so this week's emails are not in my inbox. Please resend them if I haven't replied yet. Added module-aware evaluation to emacs-arei (new guile IDE). https://git.sr.ht/~abcdw/emacs-arei/commit/feef2e3 Interesting approach for stashing patches in Drafts folder before send: Temporary migrated my emails to runbox. It operates since 2000, hosted in Norway, have all standard features and protocols available, the costs and message limits are quite nice. Migadu was on the top of my list, but 20message/day limit on micro plan and 9$/month on mini plan is too much for me at the moment. Probably, I can solve it, but it requires more time. I also update my mail workflow a little bit, so there is a small chance that I can miss your email in the next few days. @abcdw Sorry Andrew, not right now. We're focusing our bandwidth on making the product accessible to those who don't have the technical knowledge / energy to run a reliable storage infrastructure. We'd happily recommend @photoprism or Immich, they're fantastic projects! I've used Migadu for about 2 years now, and while I've experienced ups and downs (there have been 2 times where I simply stopped receiving email and it took like a day to sort out), I haven't seen anything that seems better. and its useful being able to spawn up mailboxes on demand. @abcdw I'm currently hosting my personal email with Migadu, after a recommendation from @drewdevault , and have been very happy with their service.

@abcdw I took the chance to directly manage my email , which is a great way to feel the meaning of the Internet. Be your own host ๐ @abcdw I use Proton Mail and I tried Tutanota. I like Proton Mail enough to pay for the Ultimate CHF 190 per 24 months. I think it was a black Friday/cyber Monday deal ๐ Here is a referral link https://pr.tn/ref/RYN42RYGBP5G . You will get a free month of mail plus and I will get $5 or $15 if you take a 1 or 12 month subscription. I'm looking for an ethical analytics solutions. If you have some comparison articles or hands-on experience, please share with me. So far I found a note by @fidel: and podcast about plausible:

for mobile, Clean Insights by Guardian Project, it uses matomo, but can aggregate on-device and report less data, crucially omitting usage times. @abcdw @fidel there is #OpenTelemetry @abcdw @fidel Hi Andrew! Try https://usermaven.com/. It is a great alternative, GDPR-compliant, simple, and accurate. It offers advanced features like pixel white-labeling, attribution, event tracking, and a contacts hub. Guix module is comming to Nix soon: Thanks to @sikmir for sharing. I love the organization process of EmacsConf so much. It's a real pleasure, and so much convenience. @sachac and Co contact you in advance via email and guide through all the steps: from preparing proposal/announce to recording and captioning. |
