In my opinion, the approach of embodiment is the surest path to creating genuine understanding in ML systems.

The topology of the model ends up being tuned to represent the world through its interactions within the physical space.

This creates a shared context we can use to communicate with the AI. If you tell it go get a cup from the table, it will have an idea of what cup and table are similar to ours.

37% of American Adults are working 2 full-time jobs now.

The fact that the takeaway from this article is about protecting the employer tells you everything you need to know about late stage capitalism:

โ€First, look at your HR policy manual first and foremost, making sure you're not violating any company policy but also take stock of your economics, how much money do you need, so perhaps there are other solutions than an entire full-time job,โ€ she said.

Voice of America: "Washington policy circles think Taiwan's KMT and the CCP are uncomfortably friendly"

The fact that the prospect of friendly relations between the mainland and Taiwan makes them uncomfortable implies they are more comfortable with conflict.

China is building maglev trains that go 600km/h, this completely obviates the need for domestic air travel. ๐Ÿ‘

@yogthos but what about capacity? Schedule? Maintenance? Interoperability with existing infrastructure? Speed is nowhere near the only thing that makes a transit system actually good and new fancy maglev feels a bit gadgety to me

@yogthos Germany built the first Maglev train in Shanghai - between Pudong airport and the outskirts of the city center, over 20 years ago as a flagship project.

It didn't go that well with the capacity that China has of sucking dry all foreign projects happening on their soil. Germany then left the maintenance to China and didn't look back.

Funny to see that 'program' resurfacing now considering the main hurdle the initial project had to fight was the enormous operating cost.

@yogthos and they connect city centers, even more efficient <3

BREAKING: Attorney General Garland supports Norfolk Southern's attempt to block lawsuits for causing cancer -- after he backed Chevron's unprecedented private prosecution of Steven Donziger.

Another stark example that both parties in US represent the capitalist class. This isn't a problem that can be voted away by choosing the lesser evil.
