@yogthos This is probably why indoor farming should be the future, in addition to indigenous and forest permaculture.

News flash people, our food system is broken, has been for a very long time.

A pattern I've noticed is that liberals typically don't have any direct interactions with people who are struggling and assume that their experience is representative of the general population.

Rejecting material analysis as an explanation for their ideology becoming unappealing they latch onto the idea that the problem is with foreign actors interfering.

These people think that as long as as they can control the narrative then everybody will just magically forget that their lives suck.

... don't wind me up like that.

It's always framed as reaching voters, not as raising and addressing issues.

When you're out #BlockWalking or in #PhoneBanking or #TextBanking ... they carefully select people who they think would vote their way if they could only get them to vote

If you are having to ask your OWN people to stir their asses to the polls, maybe it's because you're not inspiring anyone.

The worst of it is with regards to the rise in right wing populism. Being unable to comprehend that some of the people attracted to it are doing so as a lash out against the throes of crushing capitalism. Having been deprived of the tools like material analysis to understand the true cause of their woes, they take an easy path out.

But to accept that would mean accepting that capitalism is inherently contradictory, and liberalism is blind to fail. So they can't do that.

White House spent the month of February scrambling jets to fire $400,000 missiles at the local hobby club’s balloons. 🤡 aviationweek.com/defense-space

Toe Knee

@yogthos I was wondering how much it must have cost to shoot down some balloons.

We are insane.

By crudely cleaving Gramsci from the Leninist tradition, the Eurocommunists and their ancestors present a picture of the man and his theory which is not only historically inaccurate, but opportunistically incomplete.

In the 21st century when much of the left have abandoned Lenin for being antiquated and outmoded, we must look to Gramsci in order to help define what Leninism means today and its relevance to revolutionary struggle in our age.

Ultimately, there is an irreconcilable incompatibility between the idea of free information and the existence of corporations that profit from its commodification. The battle to make information free is the battle for an entirely different world. logicmag.io/failure/freedom-is

@yogthos somewhat ironic that this streak of derailment news is so reminiscent of the opening of Atlas Shrugged, but the cause appears to be the exact opposite: too little regulation instead of too much. Just checked and it hasn’t prevented birdsite folks from drawing direct comparisons: twitter.com/search?src=typed_q

Chomsky: The US is living under a totalitarian culture much worse than Soviet Union

Soviet Russia could access BBC, Voice of America, German TV

Today Americans are not permitted to hear what Russians are saying

The US has imposed constraints on access to info beyond Soviets

ElPamplina 🇺🇦

@yogthos Chomsky's mere existence is proof of the opposite of what he says.
Being a dissident of the totalitarian state, he remains one of the opinion leaders and employed by one of the most prestigious institutions in the country.

@yogthos anyone who talks to russell brand could be immediately dismissed as a conspiracy theorist, it's so sad to see Chomsky falling down that rabbit hole.
And no, the only one censoring russians is the russian government, in the case of US it's the rules of the capitalist market who decide what people can see and what is censored
