@yogthos
I'm missing info of how many people were killed in USSR? Also that they in fact were financed by Wall Street? That lagrs was in fact a large company around slave labor? And what about religious freedom? The great hunger in Ukraine? The disgusting crimes of NKVD?

Zimbabwe bans all lithium exports.

The government said it was losing $1.7 billion from exporting it as a raw mineral and not processing it into batteries in-country.

Instead of exporting raw materials, Zimbabwe hopes to develop its own industry.

this Data Rabbit talk is a really great illustration of what programming could be like if we moved away from writing code using a plain text editor.

Huxley perfectly described western capitalist system

The perfect dictatorship would have the appearance of a democracy, but would basically be a prison without walls in which the prisoners would not even dream of escaping. It would essentially be a system of slavery where, through consumption and entertainment, the slaves would love their servitude.

George Orwell is a far worse person than you likely thought

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_

In 2003, declassified British archives belonging to the British Foreign Office revealed that George Orwell secretly accused Chaplin of being a secret communist and a friend of the USSR.[289] Chaplin's name was one of 35 Orwell gave to the Information Research Department (IRD), a secret British Cold War propaganda department which worked closely with the CIA, according to a 1949 document known as Orwell's list.[289] Chaplin was not the only actor in America Orwell accused of being a secret communist. He also described American civil-rights leader and actor Paul Robeson as being "anti-white".[289]

@yogthos bear in mind that Blair (Orwell was a pseudonym) fought in Catalonia in a Trotskyite unit allied to Anarchist units, and that strongly influenced his feelings about orthodox communists of the period (although whether Chaplin was orthodox in that sense I do not know).

@yogthos I currently use both; but when this laptop dies, I won't replace it with another MacBook. MacOS is very developer-hostile, and this MacBook doesn't run Linux at all well.
