Here's a #fediverse tip: You don't and to choose between #Mastodon, #Pixelfed, #Calckey, etc. Just like you might have had a Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook account before, you can have separate accounts on each platform. It's just that integrations between these things on the fediverse are generally easier by design.
