I'm prototyping a fediverse sharing button. Anyone interested in giving it a try?

Feature highlights:

- shows a logo of supported fediverse software
- lets you share selected text
- remembers the last fediverse domain used

Demo: fediverse-share-button.stefanb

@stefan Waiting for the WordPress plugin version 🤔

@stefan not just the fediverse but I really want a :mastodon: share button across the websites and popular platforms like we have for Twitter, Facebook, Reddit etc

(it's a shame YouTube dot com still doesn't have it)

The adoption will come after the intrigue and familiarising it via a share icon will be of great service.

@stefan the same bookmarklet code you use for Diaspora should work for Friendica too. https://wiki.friendi.ca/ressources?s[]=share

Happy 14th Birthday #Friendica!

Happy Birthday to the oldest fediverse server project that is still actively maintained. This marks the beginning of development of the Mistpark decentralised social network. We decided not to wait for "quit Facebook Day" in 2010 (May 31). We hit the ground running and haven't looked back. (Mike Macgirvin) 14th Birthday #Friendica!

Synchronet BBS as an #onion node makes #telnet over #Tor a secure protocol because your exit node is the #BBS itself...

Brilliant!

- Synchronet over Tor on an rPi - Marvelous!

But what about those #MS_Windows users out there? How about a gzipped tarball, all nicely packaged up so you can distribute around, of a custom built #PuTTY client that will securely connect people to your #Synchronet_BBS over telnet?

Brilliant!

- Create a custom PuTTY package to distribute for your BBS over Tor - Magnificent!

What was that again? Oh yeah, ... Brilliant!

Enjoy!

@tallship This is how I imagine the end game for Mitra. Just a single executable, without renting anything from anyone.

Article Interop WG: How to represent titles?

Should title be inserted into Article.content as an <h1> tag, or should it go to Article.name?

- Converting upvotes coming from Lemmy into likes.
- Notification grouping.
- Many Mastodon API compatibility improvements.

The #ActivityPub gateway is a server component that can work with any #XMPP server or client, not only #Libervia .

About the status, it's working. I have 2 more things to do before the release:

- HTTP signature for GET requests (it's only done for POST requests right now), which will make it compatible with secure mode of other implementations.

- Use per-user encryption keys. For now it's one for the whole instance.

Both things are easy to do, I just need some time.

The result should look like the attached screenie

FEP-ef61 update: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/pulls/308

Further simplifying the spec by replacing aliases property with gateway (or should it be gateways?). The first gateway in the list is used to create MastoPub compatible URLs.

Gateways will probably be used to retrieve media as well:

Mitra v2.17.0 has been released. From now on these announcements will be published from @mitra account

I added some basic #activitypub support to humungus based on the #forgefed vocabulary. Repository, Commit, etc. And of course updated #honk as well. So now you can follow the honk repo from within honk itself and see all the commits fly by. Still a work in progress, but it’s live now. Probably do a longer write up next week.

As if no one could have seen it coming.

Meanwhile, browser extensions are working just fine.

Changes in my FEP-ef61 implementation: the resolver endpoint was replaced with gateway, and did:ap URLs were replaced with ap:// URLs

https://mitra.social/.well-known/apgateway/did:key:z6MkjtdL1hhAtJDRTti4JZtjGVkMiqbrQWhLQjK8wV4neCvS/actor

Also found a way to use existing URL library to parse ap:// URLs. A massive FEP-ef61 update is coming.
