Temporal is behind a runtime flag in the latest firefox nightly and passes 98% of tests this is not a drill :neocat_hyper:

alrighty after wasting a bunch of time on using the wrong kind of grub and then failing to figure out netboot we now have boot-to-js on my T450s. I will not be taking any questions.
I should figure out how to boot my spare ThinkPad directly into bare metal JavaScript

@linus I will not be taking my UEFI laptop to your place /j

in the client meeting. straight up "smashing it". and by "it", haha, well. let's justr say. the £12,000 LED video wall
Ad in a tube train that says: You had a meeting with a potential client and you smashed it. Unfortunately, "it" was their £12,000 LED video wall.

why are people always standing in the way :neocat_googly_shocked:

people who think they can enter the train before people have exited, people in front of the elevator when I need to get out, groups of people blocking hallways, people having a chat in front of the coffee machine

please make it stop :neocat_googly_shocked: :neocat_googly_shocked: :neocat_googly_shocked:

*open fedi*
there are people arguing about operating systems
*close fedi*

some people need to look up what "practicality" means. You can use things outside of what the "this is literally the best thing ever" people endorse. Or go a step further and embrace it like I do! C++ and Zig (not memory safe!), JS (clown language!), an iPhone (Apple fucking sucks!), GNOME (ew it looks so modern!). Jeez...

I'll let you use Rust, a desktop environment that looks like it's from 20 years ago, and a phone where you compiled the kernel yourself. It doesn't matter. Just stop shitting on things people enjoy okay?
Linus :blobcatpenguin:
No, upstream does not owe you an issue tracker. Shaming people for protecting themselves from burnout is vile. Read the license again, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND

@linus ... is that stalebot as a startup?

update: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
> GitAuto automatically writes code and creates pull requests daily for your issues on GitHub, fixing more bugs and shipping more features.

it's worse than stalebot

:tom: I ran FJCVTZS on @ruhrscholz ‘s computer

(it was not noticeably faster but that’s a problem for future me)

@linus Back in Uni, in the first year, we were tasked to write a simple TCP-based messenger in Java, given the protocol spec. A poor persons IRC basically. A friend's group somehow managed to ignore TCP listen and just did busy waiting - no sleep interval in between. Their program used up to much CPU that the laptop they were using to present the project ran out of battery while presenting their submission. I used that program as a small space heater in the winter back then.

This is your regular reminder that https://justforfunnoreally.dev exists, both as a site and as a philosophy. Fedi isn't nearly as bad as other corners of the web but even here I get the occasional "but why". Fun is why :neocat_happy:

(h/t @seven1m who made that site!)

the iOS move goal thingy exclusively sends progress notifications when I'm sitting at my desk, in a train, or lying in bed :neocat_think:
Linus :blobcatpenguin:
"move goal 200%!" cool but I have literally not moved one bit in the last 15 minutes what are you talking about

good morning fedi, i actually ported (read: unholy amounts of duct tape) my toy js engine to the 3ds :neocat_aww:

A Nintendo 3DS showing console-like output on the top screen. It printed the Zig version (latest 0.12-dev) and the famous demo from the "Wat" talk where joining an array of "string minus number" results in "NaNNaNNaNNaN[...] Batman".
In the background there's my laptop with the Zig code for this demo.
