Guess what? The main issue is not laucnhing on linux, this is unbearably crappy, but passable, but trying to run it from Russia, because someone very smart decided that:

I get that I am not welcome there but oh gosh it’s a complicated mess that no one cared to at least get to one working state when it hates people enough for them to not play it or hates them not more than to satisfy the need to “not support russia”, but they neither properly care about russian people playing nor about this requirement to hate them

The thing is, there is 100s of general reasons (free software philosophy, faults of microsoft, it being free as in free beer etc) that are the same weight as some “I can do cool stuff here” reasons and the same as “I’m just comfortable using it to the point I’m no longer comfortable using windows and macos”
But any of those reasons are not properly conveyed to the people I talk to, and for them it looks like I’m just a stubborn geek that for some reason prefers some geeky stuff to having fun with them (the reason is - proprietary windows-only stuff they are forcing on me to use for something they want to do doesn’t work well on linux, and they become more convinced that linux is unusable ignoring my attempts to convey that this stuff is not supposed to even work here and it’s a miracle that I somehow got it to until this point where it finally broke)

Seriously, I try my best promoting linux as an viable option but fail miserably because people notice I’m on linux only when windows-centric stuff breaks for me, and it’s hard to imagine them listening to me saying anything good about linux after that, because despite stuff breaking on windows too they consider microsoft os as default and got used to windows shenanigans
I don’t understand why people are so negative about software.
Like, I get this, something doesn’t quite work for people, but why are they always so sure it’s because it’s “shit” and the thing that works for them does in fact work for others just as well?
It goes into Windows vs Linux, X11 vs Wayland, Corpoready distros vs Arch and alikes vs Gentoo and alikes vs super experimental stuff either requiring of tweaking everything to even work
