@helveticablanc I think you'll enjoy this Babel tangent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMxYJ8YQr30&list=WL&index=50 @helveticablanc god each new one is my new favourite. This one is so freakin sick :maru: The perfect encapsulation of where Silicon Valley has been taking us for years. Let this radicalize you into picking up a paintbrush or a guitar. As much as I work digitally, there's SO much satisfaction in the physical act of creation — in all its roughness and mess. Apple and every other tech capitalist are desperate to lock you into endless subscriptions, dongles, and yearly upgrade cycles, squeezing you of every last drop. Resist. Buy used, if you must. But look for escape routes, because this shit is untenable. Catch me by the cave walls, charcoal in hand. Sigil 2 (Learning) @helveticablanc Gold leaf looks so fun to work with. A friend of mine used it a lot on her personal works too, been a fan since then :>! Sigil 1 (Small Changes to Prevent Large Ones) @helveticablanc the piece is turning out amazing <3 I love it! It looks like you have an idea for the frame with more detailing, looking forward to seeing it. There's so many things I want to make: paintings, webcomics, prose, music, etc. I'm eternally stretched thin and feel like I'm only good at a couple of them, but am grateful for the folks who appreciate me bouncing between media so much. 🙏 @helveticablanc This is why I became a game developer tbh. I love it all even the programming (in small doses 😅 ) Never stop making art and never restrict yourself. @helveticablanc I really feel the same way. Sometimes I find myself wishing my work was more focused(only doing illustration, say), but I know that this wouldn't make me happy :). All of those different creative outlets you mentioned feed one another, and permit you to better flesh out your ideas :>. @helveticablanc Aaaaaaaaah this is incredibly beautiful!!!! Just told my friend about it ❤️ One thing I learned in my December Adventure was that I really wanted a custom variant of a font that I already make extensive use of — Basteleur. I reached out to the designer, Keussel, and commissioned him to make my own unicase variant. Here's a little sample of Basteleur Blanc, and you can see it in action on my website: https://helveticablanc.com I made a lot of art this year, but the thing I'm most proud of is finally publishing the first short story for Wormsong: @helveticablanc it's so beautiful... i had an idea to make something similar about my conscripts, but i don't know when (or even if) it'll happen Finally starting my December Adventure after wrapping up a zine project. It's a little Times New Roman, a little Basteleur, a little Medieval script, and a little monocase. Just a weird little amalgam for my personal use! @helveticablanc wow, I love em so much, look at that little guy with a briefcase <3 Sometimes I make ambient music under the name Wormsong, and recently I was honored to have a track in the compilation Elmet Brae! You can download it here: https://orllewin.github.io/elmet_brae/EB01/ And you can find my other stuff here: https://wormsong.bandcamp.com/track/awake-o-neiro I've decided to take a break from posting new prints so I can recharge and focus on some bigger projects. I'm still gonna post weekly sketches and oracle cards over on Patreon, though, so now is a great time to sign up! I’ve very quietly launched Wormsong on my website. Right now it's just an opening poem, but it'll eventually be a combination of short fiction, illustrations, essays, and a wiki. I’ll let y'all know when I make updates! @helveticablanc Lovely landing page for the project, I expect that in a few weeks each word of the poem be clickable and sending deeper into the world. |
