@ExtinctionR A few years ago, the joke was in my town, “Snow takes a break every other winter.”

I legit believe it won’t ever snow in my town again.

gunstick

@ExtinctionR can we have actual doomsday cookies like that? With all the climate forecasts. Some in de low mode as currently and others in the worst imaginable.
And I think reality will even surpass the worst imaginable.

@ExtinctionR Hey Extinction Rebellion, saving the planet is cool. What’s also cool is giving credit to artists/creators. :)

This one is by KC Green, it’s called „This is Not Fine“ and was published on August 3rd, 2016 on The Nib: thenib.com/this-is-not-fine/

@ExtinctionR I think we should **not** react exactly like that. We should not panic.

We should act as in an emergency. We should take calmly, but rapidly precautions, we should grab the fire extinguisher fast and extinguish the fire as if our life depends on it, because it does.

Panic is the wrong feeling, panic is what kills people in emergencies.
Panic is what causes people being trampled to death in an emergency.

As the effervescent and wonderful Jason Hickel said over at Muskville; "Thanks to a lot of tech bros and economists getting Very Upset about degrowth, this article is now the number one trending publication at Nature."

@ExtinctionR

Don’t even need that. Just call in a good civil engineer.

Wanna save the planet? Change your town's zoning laws.

Best of all, none of us have to be a billionaire oil baron to do so. In fact they might get pissed off. I consider this a perk.

@ExtinctionR ...wealthy economies should abandon growth of gross domestic product (GDP) as a goal ...

Can't. Advocating for degrowth is a non-starter with economists. In the developing world and advanced economies. Also, the assumption that declining GDP growth will lead to declines in emissions is shaky at best. We don't see this play out in the data. It's possible to grow GDP responsibly, while making a concerted effort to lower emissions. Sweden is doing it.

The building depicted is Wohnpark Alterlaa.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alterlaa

While it may provide affordable housing, it is, in my opinion, an architectural disgrace. It just doesn't fit into the surrounding cityscape, at least not at the moment ... and here I'm talking about the last 40 years.

But as always, tastes are different ... if it's the only way to build affordable housing, then so be it.
