The messaging app situation is fucking terrible
- Lots of people use discord
- Discord sucks, both the client and how it works
- Matrix exists, but it copies discord
- Surprise, matrix is shit
- Surprise. the official matrix client is fucking sluggish at times and buggy
- Some people use telegram
- So far, is the best feature-wise + the official client is fast and doesn't rape your system's resources
- Freetards hate it due to the server code not being OSS
- Despite this, no freetard has ever made a telegram copy/alternative that's also foss.

SO WE ARE STUCK WITH SHITTY SHIT

@MischievousTomato@bae.st movim is the closest thing I can think of a telegram like xmpp client, and it isn't terrible except is webshit and their devs aren't the greatest

@MischievousTomato What's the problem with Matrix except it's client and server implementation?

Another thing with linux is that stuff gets worse stupidly while doing software updates sometimes.

For example, updating to Mesa 21.3 makes the intel vulkan implementations to have flickering in many apps and games, and on top of that, has lower performance compared to Mesa 21.2.

Another time, for some days, no one on Fedora 35 had working mics...

And there's most likely a plethora of issues that will most likely never be fixed because not everyone can report issues to a github/gitlab or worse, a bugzilla tracker.

@MischievousTomato game compatibility is one of the fucking worst thing.
Specially as games tend to be unmaintained and rushed software with basically no care for longevity and of course most of them aren't really packaged so testing them is a fucking mess.

Steam had to create a runtime because of this kind of crap and we're likely gonna have to maintain compatibility layers for absolute ages (ie. SDL-1.2 compatibility).
