Wow, just wow. @localfirstconf was a big success—I'm still reeling from the experience.
A few takeaways:
We had several demos of **super-fast UIs**. Each one was strangely shocking: we’re used to “fast” in non-game software meaning <200ms. @overtone, zerosync.dev, and of course Linear.app do paints on the next frame (at 60fps that’s <16ms). I can’t wait for a future where we can expect this from more software.
@localfirstconf@overtone Seeing so many frameworks (Jazz, DXOS, PowerSync, ...) and end-user apps (Anytype, Goodnotes, Linear ...) describe their technical architectures made it clear there’s a lot of **convergence on core patterns**. In his opening talk, @martin suggested we might be ready for an IETF protocol standard for local-first sync in the next few years. I was skeptical at first but after seeing these similarities it feels within reach!
I’m proud of everything we’ve built over the last four years: a beautiful and unique thinking tool, the world’s first commercial-scale local-first sync system, and 100+ hours of podcast on design and ideas.
I’ll be continuing on as an advisor to Adam Wulf. We’re also figuring out a future for the podcast, under the umbrella of Ink & Switch.
This is a bittersweet day: I’m moving on from my role as CEO at Muse. My longtime colleague @adamwulf will be taking over.

@adamwiggins@adamwulf One of my favorite thinking tools. You should be proud of the high quality of the product you shipped. I'm excited to see what you'll work on next!
