Published @dthompson super talk "Get Rich Slow with Guile and Guix" - Covers all sorts of interesting topics in #freesoftware #emacs #nix #guix #guile #scheme #programming #linux Also @spritelyinst work on Scheme in the browser with #wasm and the future of #secure #internet Great weekend viewing! @futurile @spritelyinst I haven't watched (not sure if I have the guts lol) but I know I did not make the editing easy on you what with the many instances of technical difficulties. THANK YOU!!! @futurile @dthompson @spritelyinst Wooo! I wasn't able to make it to the meetup live so I've been looking forward to this. Gonna watch it this weekend :) Did you know that there is a new substitute and CI server for Guix? TLDR: North American based Guix Substitute Server, https://cuirass.genenetwork.org https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/guix-devel/2024-07/msg00033.html I am really excited what this demonstrates for #ReproducibleBuilds in #Guix both for a third reference point... But also that you can enable the build farm without trusting it, relying on the signatures from the more established servers, and download the bit-for-bit identical binaries from the "untrusted" one. Which is not to say there is any reason in particular not to trust the new build farm... just that you do not have to trust it for it to be useful! I forgot how life is good without a job. I've started to sleep well and kinda enjoy life again :) Thinking about writing a blog post about my immigration life in Tbilisi. I bet you don't know about Georgia (country) and Tbilisi if you wasn't born in post-ussr country. Today we published the first issue of RDE Monthly Newsletter! Interesting news and links related to Guix, Guile, RDE and Scheme delivered to your inbox or RSS reader. Huge kudos to Kirill Yermak for preparing materials. Please enjoy and share! https://lists.sr.ht/~abcdw/rde-monthly/%3C87bk4l2i46.fsf@trop.in%3E @abcdw great initiative. Do you intend to cross-post the newsletter to Mastodon as well, or will it remain email only? Call for contributions to the #Guix infrastructure 👇 Many areas where you can help, with different time commitments and prerequisites: funding & spending, hardware hosting, system administration, and coding. @civodul > Improve infra monitoring For balancing traffic there is HAProxy in the (gnu packages high-availability) module which misses written service. That module contains base packages for clustering as well, all missing services. @civodul perhaps we need to organize a fundraising drive for infra costs? I can help organize and promote that! Great news, everyone! I've published a first version of the static site builder StatiCL. As you might assume from it's name, it is written in Common Lisp. Now I'm replacing all my sites which used Coleslaw with this new builder, because it is more flexible and suitable not only for blogs. Read more in the docs: https://40ants.com/staticl/ I need first testers, so feel free to share your feelings and issues. Also I'd appreciate if you'll boost this post. @svetlyak40wt Being one of the maintainers of Coleslaw, I would have loved to see your pull requests. But you do you, I guess.
[DATA EXPUNGED]
Reposted it again, because I've messed up with post visibility and it was not available by searching using hashtags. Public Service Announcement: Several #Guix web sites and services are currently down. I gonna leave my job in 1st June. I'm looking for free software contracts. If you have one, please contact me. I do web backends, scripting and system programming on basic level (I think I can handle it, I just lack real-world experience). I have about 4-5 years of commercial proprietary experience and also 10+ years personal programming experience. My email: w96k@runbox.com I'm planning for now doing my side project, but any foss job would be much appreciated. Thank you for your attention. My main interests are GNU toolchain, GNU/Linux systems, GNU Guix, NixOS, GNU Emacs, GNU Guile, C (gcc), Common Lisp, PHP, Python and some other programming languages. I can use Symfony, Django on backend, but I don't like to stick to frameworks much. Glad to be joining the fine #Guix London Meetup crowd led by @futurile and @fabionatali for a discussion about Guix, Guile, and life at 7PM CEST today!

@civodul @futurile @fabionatali @civodul @futurile @fabionatali That's really good news indeed. I registered to the online meeting and notified my colleagues from Russian Guix community about the oncoming meeting too; maybe some of them will be joining as well. |
