It's always sad when a long-planned vacation ends, but at least the kitties are glad that we're back to put them on tethers so they can keep an eye on the chipmunks!

We brought back a few tufts of sheep wool we found on a fence post, and the kitties think it's the most interesting smelling thing they've ever come across. Maybe not all is forgiven, but we did get some points in our favor. I was showing my son the nice tea towel we picked up and Hilo immediately spread out on it. "This is mine, too." She's pretending to be sleeping and can't hear my pleas to get it back, but her twitching tail was giving her away. 😹

and Kona is pitifully crying to go out. The kitties never get to go out unless on harness and leash, so her hope that I'll just open the door for her is completely unrealistic.

Kona is the more elegant of our two cats, but sometimes she stands in such weird poses, like one of those scruffy cats in New Yorker cartoons.

I brought the bird feeders in for cleaning and the kitties are beyond themselves in scent heaven.

Kona is in her "palace" and Hilo has All The Toys. Life is good.

I made a sachet with balsam needles from our Christmas tree. Yes, it's Hilo-approved.

This is the first time Kona and Hilo have snuggled together in over three years, before they decided the other was the Enemy who Must Be Destroyed. They got past that phase and we were delighted, frankly, with them not trying to kill each other. This was a heart-warming surprise 😻.
Oh, you don't see Hilo? She likes to sleep under the covers 😹

Deer! There's a deer out there! What's it doing!

Radiant floor heat, bright sunshine - it doesn't get better on a winter day! 😻 But sometimes it gets to be too much. Hilo, in a semi-liquid state, languidly rolled over until she was out of the sun and left her legs in the air to cool off a bit.

and Hilo has finished her ablutions. She is now thinking very hard about the nap she's about to take, despite the sports on TV.

No kitty walks today because they didn't care for the weather. So we let them go down into the basement, as a treat. Hilo came back up with a mouse. Her new "friend" is now under the baseboard heater in the dining room. Hilo and Kona were taking turns on Watch in case it ventured out, but now they're both sound asleep. We're just hoping it decides to check out the gap next to the plumbing and escapes to the basement.

After a stormy night and morning, Hilo is glad that, with the sun out, it's now truly .
