#Caturday and #Bleptember! OK, so not a true blep, but as close as Hilo ever comes 😹 Hilo thinks it's unfair that I posted a #caturday picture of her sister and not her, so here y'all go. She likes to hang out with us while we play board games and almost never tries to steal the pieces or knock everything over walking across the playing field. Almost. It's time for #caturday morning snuggles! Kona isn't much of a lap cat, but when she is, she goes all in. Hope springs eternal. If Hilo sits perfectly still for long enough, a chipmunk is bound to come out of those rocks!! Oh, so you thought you could steal my footstool when I got up, hmm? We just don't do much with cash these days. Kona apparently has never seen it before and was blissing out by its rich and unique smells. (I had to hide it - she was about to give it a bite test 😬) #Caturday and game day! Kona is waiting for her turn. Hilo and Kona seem to be getting ready for this afternoon's #CatSleepingContest. Hilo is making sure she has the requisite calories. Kona is playing in her box, making sure she'll be properly tuckered out. They better hurry up with their prep: the contest starts in 5 minutes! #Caturday and it's tether time! Kona is going for partial shade where she can watch for chipmunks. Hilo has chosen total shade and is being yelled at by a pair of cardinals, some chickadees, a handful of sparrows, and a titmouse (birds not in picture.) A late #Caturday entry: Kona sat like this for half an hour yesterday, staring intently at the wall of the screen porch, sometimes glancing right as if whatever it was she saw had run over that way, and then back again. Ah, summer! Almost enough breeze to keep the mosquitos at bay, but not enough to be a problem for an outdoor cooking fire. Hilo and Kona are out on tethers while we wait for the wood to cook down to coals. Hilo is waiting for a chipmunk to pop out of the rocks. Kona is hunting the tall grass. They are both so happy. Kona is on red squirrel patrol. She scared one off by climbing on and knocking over one of the chairs. It scared her, too, but she's willing to try it again! Hilo on her tether. She has the whole yard to roam around, but she has her own agenda: she knows the chipmunks live in that pile of rocks, and if she's very, very still, one will come out! There's just a lot of a lot going on. Phew. But here's another little thing you might want to know: tortoiseshell cats have tortoiseshell toe beans, too! It's a Hilo burrito! Kona really, really wants to get to the little birds in the nest. Darn screen!! Adding to the insult, the Pheobe parents keep bringing food to their nestlings, completely dismissing her as a threat. 😹 12
