@taylorlorenz https://www.wired.com/story/tiktok-platforms-cory-doctorow/ Surpluses are first directed to users; then, once they're locked in, surpluses go to suppliers; then once they're locked in, the surplus is handed to shareholders and the platform becomes a useless pile of shit. From mobile app stores to Steam, from Facebook to Twitter, this is the enshittification lifecycle. @chx @taylorlorenz steam doesn't have shareholders and it is in better shape than ever. I've been using it since 2006. If you want to, can you elaborate on how it is like Facebook and Twitter? @artemesia @chx @taylorlorenz I don't know if the mac version is different than windows but it doesn't open popups when launching games, only when opening steam for the first time. You can also tweak settings to close it definitely. Also the search by OS has been in there for at least 8 years. @taylorlorenz |
@taylorlorenz I honestly formed the opinion, reading the article, that it flip flopped between this is bad, but it might work, back to this didn't work, but maybe it did....
Talk about hedging bets....
A lot of words though. Interesting, yet unclear I thought.
