@frameworkcomputer
What is making ubuntu so much more power efficient than the rest?

@alavi @frameworkcomputer probably some level of power optimization daemons like powertop or similar

@niko @frameworkcomputer
I would like to see how an optimized endeavor OS or arch performs vs ubuntu.

@frameworkcomputer its fascinating that of all these tested distros, ubuntu is the one that performed best
almost surprising

DeepBlue V7.X

@frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org Pretty sure that will still get better with the power-profiles-daemon patches + the patch to prevent the CPU being stuck in 400Mhz states when using epp. It comfortably lasts me a whole day now, when I do easy tasks (so not compiling stuff).

@sjuvonen @frameworkcomputer @fedora yeah, that's a bit strange, I'd like to know if there are optimizations that I should apply from Ubuntu.
Lately my fedora experience has been not great with sleep with external display (not a normal use case) it would freeze and give me a white screen where I would have to force power off. I want to replicate it reliably and report (not sure what to even look at since I have to hard reset). But aside from that the Fedora experience has been great.

@sjuvonen @frameworkcomputer @fedora I've had some pretty bad battery life myself since switching on my laptop, been wondering why.

@frameworkcomputer I'd really love to know what Ubuntu is doing differently. We have a lot to work on in Fedora when it comes to power efficiency, apparently

@gastonrampersad @frameworkcomputer doesn't list distro versions. Doesn't say what kernels. Distros generally futz with their kernel and tuning as well. So could be anything. But generally expect things to improve with time no matter what you pick
