@neauoire It looks like the former place of the oven, right? Did you take it off definitely, or it's somewhere else in the boat now?

Devine Lu Linvega

@artsun we took it off, and we'll replace it by a single gimbaled burner.

Artsun

@neauoire Oh cool! Quite interested by the whys and the hows when and if you'll feel like sharing the story!

Devine Lu Linvega

@artsun the story is quite simple, we had a 3 burner stove+oven. We never used the over in 9 years, and only ever used 1 burner, so we figured we might as well use that space for something useful :)

Artsun

@neauoire That's the best reason of all then :)

Devine Lu Linvega

@artsun the space there is prime real estate, it's so nice to have all that extra space to keep our veggie bins

Started staining the pine shelves with instant coffee. You can see the difference in color after a single pass of coffee stain.

Pine, and coffee stained pine.

We recycled parts from older projects to make stoppers so when the boat is heeling, things don't fly off.

U-shaped support to slinde in a blocking length of wood.

It's nice enough outside that we can do it all on the docks, it's pretty cool to be doing projects outdoors in February. 🌄

@neauoire Looks great! How many passes of coffee varnish do you apply in total? And do you put on a finishing coat of something else to make it more durable or is it just coffee?

Devine Lu Linvega

@rostiger we put two coats of coffee , and then two coats of varnish

@neauoire When I see your projects it makes me want to buy a boat and work on it!

Duncan

@neauoire can’t believe how well the coffee works. Nice!

New pantry is complete. Stained pine with instant coffee, it blends well with the rest of the woodwork :)

Where the stove used to be.
The new pentry with stopping bars so things don't fly off when the boat is heeling.

This project allows us to keep vegetables in a way so that they breathe well, and is accessible while we're cooking. I'm so glad we finally got around to it.
