I got a used fresnel light for indoor photography. These things are really expensive new. Now I just need a stand because this thing gets very hot.

@Gargron those Arris are great. We had a bunch of those in the studio way back in the day and are real workhorses!

@samir This isn't for constant everyday illumination. Color rendering and temperature are key.

@Gargron oh I understand. But I was wondering if you can get an LED version of a fresnel so heat is not an issue?
Eugen Rochko
@samir Sure, people use LEDs in photography. The same kind of luminosity and color rendering with LED tends to be more expensive though. LED bulbs will also run hot, just from the power unit instead of the diode.

@Gargron That's a great lamp, definitely gets hot though.Because I saw you talking about recommendations lower in the thread: Impact has great, budget friendlier rolling light stands that I like and are sturdy. The tungsten fresnels are generally pretty hefty, so more stability is better. Id also recommend some leather work gloves to heat protection and some sandbags to aid in stability! |
