I got a used fresnel light for indoor photography. These things are really expensive new. Now I just need a stand because this thing gets very hot.

@Gargron
Someone knows who you'll be taking pictures of

Cab T. Hanks

@Gargron

Looks really stylish. The Cat too 😄

Alan Bucknam

@Gargron those Arris are great. We had a bunch of those in the studio way back in the day and are real workhorses!

Eugen Rochko

@samir This isn't for constant everyday illumination. Color rendering and temperature are key.

Samir Al-Battran

@Gargron oh I understand. But I was wondering if you can get an LED version of a fresnel so heat is not an issue?
In theory you can get the right colour temperature with LED
Having said that, I am far from an expert in photography and merely asking if LED has served in the photography space

Eugen Rochko

@samir Sure, people use LEDs in photography. The same kind of luminosity and color rendering with LED tends to be more expensive though. LED bulbs will also run hot, just from the power unit instead of the diode.

@Gargron cat knows that the thing wond bring food or cuddles.

Hasufin

@Gargron Huh! I didn't know they had a use outside of lighthouses.

Jenny

@Gargron Is there a light in this picture? All I see is a cat

@Gargron That's a great lamp, definitely gets hot though.Because I saw you talking about recommendations lower in the thread: Impact has great, budget friendlier rolling light stands that I like and are sturdy. The tungsten fresnels are generally pretty hefty, so more stability is better. Id also recommend some leather work gloves to heat protection and some sandbags to aid in stability!

Lizzie

@Gargron oh gawd yes, they are dangerous re heat! Many a theatre fire will attest to that! But they're marvelous, aren't they?

'Stupid' Jim - webcomic

@Gargron Put it on the cat. It'll just purr because it's a heating device.

David D. Levine

@Gargron Now you need a Leko to complete the set.
