Gregory's Serveri cracked open a pair of the original apple earbuds out of nostalgia and man it’s just unpleasant. they don’t fit in your ear because why would they — it’s a perfect circle. like you’re not so much piping music into your ears as much as you’re dangling tiny speakers in the vicinity of your ear canal and sometimes you’ll pick up clear music.

 @samhenrigold even back then they fit pretty badly. I remember that I used to wear mine shoved sideways so the speaker would point towards the inner ear (and yes, the stems would dangle straight out, making me look extra silly) but that made them into some form of early noise-isolated earbuds @brunoph it’s wild that this position is the best they sound and it’s still comparable to just playing the phone speaker next to your ear |
