Did you know that #Victorian #fashion almost wiped out shore #birds in #Florida? During the Victorian Age, bird plumage on hats was all the rage. Ah interesting! There were multiple activists early on who campaigned against the trade, & Florida made an early sanctuary in 1901 for egrets. @mythologyandhistory I recently heard from the iron snail, a history of fashion vlogger, that the automobile killed plumage on hats. People couldn’t ride in cars without messing up their headdresses.
