Today marks the ninth anniversary of the attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

It was a shock for us at the time and we suddenly realized that even humorists - people who put their finger in the wound and use humor to draw attention to the issues that concern them - are now under attack.

Not everything can be said and not everything can be drawn. Not because it means bad publicity or the loss of followers, but because it puts your life at risk.

This was an attack on artists and anyone who tells jokes. It was an attack on the free world and everyone who wants to live in it. We will not forget this and we ask you all not to either.

@warandpeas 9th anniversary... so it was a surprise that there was an attack after the attack in 2011 and the riots in 2012. interesting. even more that now it's an attack on press and artists and alike. yea, yea. they hate us for our freedom 😂 totally unexpected after we bombed their hospitals and weddings and killed journalists for over a decade. hearts and minds 🤡 and no one gave a flying fuck. yea, yea. so sad what happened at charlie. but not more sad than what happened to tens of thousands innocents in iraq and afghanistan for which *we* are responsible. double standards for the win.

@ryancoordinator True! We – as artists – have to make sure to never let them into our minds. Never must we not tell a joke because of them. Besides that we have to make sure to elect politicians who share our worldview to never surrender to fundamentalists.
