I read the entire post. The situation of #Mozilla appears less grim to me than the post headline suggests. Mozilla tries to diversify their income. That's positive. The CEO also received a high salary in the year before.

@rriemann @mav I agree the entire post is worth reading and the situation is not dire.

As I said earlier, I support the revenue diversification. I wish Mozilla would develop even more paid hosted open source services à la Proton and iCloud for its sustainability.

My point was that I don’t believe Mozilla’s leadership is doing a job worthy of that level of compensation and I want my donation to support Firefox’s development and that’s not happening.

Am I the only one who read that post and saw "Mozilla wants to get rid of Firefox?" Because that was in there. They want their principal business to be AI which is disastrous.

"Earlier this year, Mozilla laid out their vision for the future of their organization -- and it did not include Firefox. The focus for the future of Mozilla -- according to Mozilla -- is primarily based around Artificial Intelligence services."

If that is an accurate statement, then Mozilla, who currently drive the only alternative to the chrome ecosystem, need a complete leadership shift.

@rriemann @mav @Jeremiah Many would suggest last year’s salary was excessive. Noone is worth $7m/yr.
Obvs Mozilla need to diversify. FF/Safari are dead once Chrome lands on iOS. It’ll be like 2005 again with proprietary Google hooks tying their services into Chrome. Reading the roadmap tho, it’s unclear what the route-to-revenue is from their AI projects. With $1Bn incl. $500m cash, they could easily support Rust dev and hire a couple of MDN maintainers.

@richh @rriemann @mav @Jeremiah I'm worth 7m/y, I just haven't found the right megacorp to bankroll me.
