I know this is all in good fun, but for real, cats showing their bellies is a sign of playfulness in most cases. They roll on their backs as a way to reveal their weapons: all four sets of claws.

People being surprised or thinking it's some sort of trick or that cats are assholes are just failing to understand cat body language.
