"Pirate" is one of the classic Halloween costumes right?

@kingannoy -- Back in the early 90's, my friend did the software pirate thing.
He had a bandolier with 3.5" disks.

@kingannoy

I like your thinking. One year my friends had a pirates and wenches Halloween party, so I went as a treasure chest.

This toot is doing numbers!

I don't have the proverbial SoundCloud, and besides telling you to download all your media (and pay the artists directly where it makes sense) I don't have a real message for you.

So let me just give you a few more details.

Zoom in real close on the torso photo, right under my beard, that's not the print of my hoodie, that's a USB key I wore as a necklace. It contained season 1 of Our Flag Means Death and S1 of Ted Lasso (I only had 8 GB of space, and only just discovered that there was a second season of OFMD... Fuck, I'm watching that tomorrow!) I gave that away to some people at the party!

There are 4 CD-R/DVD-R's (or as one commenter said: CD-arrh's, in the pirate voice you know). One for "Pirates of the Caribbeans", that one is empty, I had some blank CD's and basically just made this as a prop, there is no data on this disk. The same goes for the "Our Flag Means Death" disk.

The other two disks are legit, about a decade old, burned and "designed" by me. I've not seen most of the listed content, "Hackers 2 operation takedown" sounds awesome, but I've only just watched Hackers (1) and I'm not convinced I should spend time on the sequel. The other disk lists: Adrenaline, Donnie Darko, Jhonny English (that should be "Johnny"...), Farenheit 911 (Fahrenheit...) and Oceans 11. From these I think I only saw Donnie Darko and Oceans 11...

I hung the disks inside my coat from bulldog clips with some sewing thread. It was flimsy but good enough for the occasion. I wonder how real illicit street vendors do this... It has to be easily removable when you make a sale...

The "anonimity bar" I'm wearing are some sunglasses from Addie Wagenknecht and Stefan Hechenberger (their names are printed on the legs of the glasses, I did not remember this). I assume I saw them at the Mediamatic at some point.

There are a few cables sticking out of my bag. A ethernet cable, a USB-A cable and a euro power plug.

@kingannoy if I may ask, what are the stickers/patches on your bag. I recognise some but others I have no idea/can't read.
Awesome costume btw

@kingannoy uhm is your instance blocking infosec or the other way around? 🤔

pancake :radare2: 🌱

@kingannoy i cant follow/rt/like/see any of your posts from there. Maybe worth checking the banlist if public and/or ask the admins for an exception, not the first time i see such blocks happening and most of the time were mistakes or autobans

Jesse

@pancake
My instance blocks a lot, and I'm generally happy with that. Feel free to look up the block-list and/or ask the admin yourself, but I don't feel motivated to argue for this on your behalf, sorry.

@kingannoy oh i see. anyway no need to do anything i was just curious :3

@kingannoy yo tenía el juego de piratas del caribe en original ya se lo he pasado a las siguientes generaciones

Randolph

@kingannoy you look like the type of fella who WOULD download a car

Sheru (she/her)

@kingannoy I dressed up as a cyber pirate once! I did like the more typical pirate wench kinda thing (I was 21, don't judge, haha). But then all my accessories were like, bits and pieces of computers.

That is a GREAT costume you're rocking.

Jesse

@MsHearthWitch
Aww thanks!

Cyber pirate wench sounds great!

I was there with my partner who was dressed like a (non-cyber) pirate witch 😅

Sheru (she/her)

@kingannoy It was fun, and soooo many years ago, lmao.
