@mjg59 "I was burn in Murmansk, a state far beyond the Arctic Honestly this sounds like how Matthew Reilly would write a Russian Antarctic base chief @mjg59 This is hilarious. This has Jon Postel vibes, "hey can you change those text files that control everything? cool thanks." @cda I'm just amazed that this guy running this antarctic research station thought "Huh I'm changing the timezone I should email the internet to let them know" and found the right people to tell and the first reply is basically "Are you fucking drunk" @mjg59 So good! He was pretty polite given the question. The flip side of it is also funny...this guy spends a lot of time "touching snow" as it were (not involved in our nerd sh**); he probably lives in a world that is 100% "I make a call and things happen." and in some strange way it makes it seem not that outrageous. @mjg59 "Comments show that polar people may treat timezones rather arbitrary." God, I wish it was just polar people. @mjg59 that was so fun, thanks for sharing. Had the perfect background music playing to accompany that exchange too. |
