@mike What would be nice to have is an actual list of accounts across the #Fediverse that y'all are federating . While I know the article shows an image of companies, I'm more referring to a list of the actual account names that we can click and follow or paste into the search bar of Mastodon and follow there. Would make things so much easier.

For example, @verge is that the account y'all are dealing/working with or some other account?

@mike To clarify a bit more in case it wasn't very clear...

We need/want links to the official accounts that Flipboard is working with so we're not following or trying to interact with all of these bot accounts, fake accounts or whatever of news sites that random people have added to the Fediverse.

Might be a good page on the Flipboard site that gets linked to and we can grab the list from there.

@CliffWade @mike Hi Cliff! You can find all the federated accounts here in our pinned thread here: flipboard.social/@Flipboard/11

@Flipboard @mike Absolutely perfect. Thank you very much for the quick response.

I assume this list will keep being updated?

Also, are these accounts considered official? As in, will they ever be "verified" accounts? Just quickly looking, I see @theverge isn't considered verified, so it's hard to know that we should be following this account as an official account.

Verification here in the #Fediverse is very important, as I'm sure y'all know.

@CliffWade we'll continue to federate some accounts between now and January which we'll announce. When we do phase 2 the list will be hundreds of thousands of accounts globally.

Cliff

@mike That is absolutely amazing! I'm looking forward to that, especially as someone that runs a #Tech related instance and is always looking for great sites/accounts, users to follow and to recommend to our users.

@cliffwade @Flipboard @mike @theverge verification's done by either looking at the domain name, if applicable (as in, if the account is on an official instance like at mozilla at mozilla dot social), or looking at the profile fields to see if there is a verified one (this is usually a link highlighed in green, with a tick next to it). the only issue with this is that neither are really used by official accounts very often (setting up an instance is hard for non-technical users, and the verified link feature is not widely known).
