@estwikphoto @ploum if that were to happen I would argue that we are further along than XMPP was, Lemmy and Mastodon have developed their own cultures and feel like spaces that are distinct but interopable. Meta will suck data out of the fediverse regardless of what any of us do, since our user data is still accessible other ways besides Federation in servers. Who's to say our data here isn't already being collected and fed into ad profiles right now?
