@pfefferle When any mastodon post includes a link, it effectively creates a DDOS attack as every server that finds that post queries the linking website for a preview image. On a small hosted blog like mine (alberniweather dot ca) with 2GB of RAM from the virtual host, it dies for 5-10 minutes every time I post a link to it or make a new blog post until the "attack" is over. It's in the pipeline to be addressed... but has been for many years apparently.

@chris oh THAT DDoS issue ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thatโ€™s a hard one, because I canโ€™t โ€žfixโ€œ that on plugin level!

@pfefferle haha. ya. THAT one.

I thought you were likely an innocent bystander. Loving the plugin by the way. If it's not too much to ask, what's your thoughts on the recommendations to have node-info and friends and other plugins as kind of companions? Is the thought to roll those into the AP plugin at some point or are you just one man and not a super-hero? :)

@chris ๐Ÿ˜‚

I am definitely only a man and far away from being a super hero ๐Ÿ˜‰

But: NodeInfo and WebFinger are already supported by the ActivityPub plugin (no need to install these plugins) and I am in direct contact with @alex about how we could/should bring the friends and ActivityPub plugin together.

But first we have to finalize the publishing/commenting part before thinking about the following!
