Gregory's Server@Gargron I agree with you 100% I've tried to talk sense into acquaintances, but they're buying into the mass hysteria created by either ignorant fools or people who have something at stake.
I think this issue highlights the importance of science education.

I should state that I think that AI has tremendous negative externalities and society will not be able to react fast enough. And it will cause lots of societal pain. (Here I don’t even refer to existential threats) But you’re being naive when you disregard the immense power for AI to change the nature of work & education. It already is transforming those areas. AI doesn’t have to be better than the “best” worker/teacher. Just better than the average at a fraction of the time.
