@RickiTarr great rant! I feel the same way! My mother rolled her eyes when we told her we were taking my kid to get a flu shot. She’s all about natural healing. Eating garlic, onions, ginger and turmeric for every ailment. She means well, but it’s still a little frustrating.

@sand And I don't even think eating certain foods for better health is bad, certainly we should, but why ignore the other goods things on offer?

@RickiTarr YES! I totally see the benefits of ginger and turmeric. But I still get my flu shot and wear a mask and all the other things. You can have both and not be a psychopath.

Let me just add a wholehearted YES to this. It’s not either/or, it’s about adding modern scientific results to traditional knowledge. And, also important: Once traditional knowledge proves outdated or superstitious (or fascist), update one’s behaviour.

@sand @RickiTarr i agree. One of my sisters is all about natural cures for things, and i'll try them, but to always turn down a scientifically-backed thing in favor of a tincture or whatever is a dangerous path to adhere to -- i think it leads to conspiracy-based thinking. ("All science is BAD!")

@sand @RickiTarr The thing is that people who believe that twaddle are perfectly entitled to their (to me) ridiculous views, as long as they don't try and impose those views on me or others.
