@ivory This looks great, and should be handy for seeing what’s going on with my server! I’ve been thinking for a while it’d be nice to browse other servers too (their hashtags, their people, public posts, explore), you often get a totally different set of information when browsing on another server’s web interface. For example, half the hashtags I follow have more posts than most of what is trending on my server. I’d never find them from my server’s hashtag trends. @icanswiftabit Not even sure how you do that on the web view. Checked the advanced interface, and couldn't figure it out. Are those tags showing you posts from mastodon.social or from everywhere in the fediverse? @ivory Nice! Curious: how does the hashtag-following feature differ from what was already implemented when clicking into a hashtag from a post? Or is that just in the notes because thematically appropriate and not truly new? @bitprophet you can see a list of all the tags you follow now as well as just view tagged posts from the hashtags tab instead of from your timeline. @ivory Thanks for your Work! It would be awesome if the next release contains an AI image description like IceCube has. 🥰 @ivory 🎉🎉🎉 Since you’ve added a new tab: I would dearly love the sidebar to be configurable on iPads like it is on phones. It is annoying seeing every favorite in two tabs instead of one. @lkanies it’s all coming in time. Navigation will be configurable on all devices. @ivory Mute # is a nice feature. Is it also possible to mute overuse of # in single toots like it was possible in Tweetbot? @ivory There's a bunch of hashtags that I don't want to follow, but want to check in on on occasion. Could there be a remembered list on the Search tab for these? @clonezone you can follow them, but also filter from your timeline. Should be what you are looking for. @ivory No, that is not what I want, due to the filter removing posts that would appear in the home timeline even without the hashtag. I think a saved search is closer to what I want. @clonezone it won’t remove posts without the hashtag. It’s the option under following the tag. @ivory You misunderstood me. If I follow someone in a way that their posts show up in my timeline and one of their posts contains a hashtag, I still want that post to show up in my timeline. I do not want it to be removed just because I don't want the entire hashtag in my timeline. The note in the text below “Filter from Home Timeline" is exactly the situation I am trying to avoid. @ivory Love it! Very well done and many thanks folks. Been wanting this for a while. Buttery delicious! @shauny Unfortunately this is currently how hashtags work in Mastodon. We are currently focusing on working with the confines of the API and can revisit how to make improvements later. 🙂 @shauny Unfortunately this is what Mastodon is returning back. I'm assuming it's taking what most users are typing and returning the most popular hashtag. If you create it as a featured hashtag, it should show up with the camel case you set. @ivory 🥳 I’ve been waiting for this. No excuse now to miss hashtags that have been posted. @ivory How do I find out what version I’m on? I searched in Settings but couldn’t see an About section. @ivory That’s a shame. I think the main issue with following hashtags is the fact that I am getting non-English posts, which I would obviously like to filter out. @ivory Could we have a “All followed hashtags” page that shows posts that contain any of the hashtags one follows? Hashtag groups, e.g. Programming = [#python, #julialang, #swift] would also be nice. @Caprica Fixed for the most part. If you remove the account and add it back, it will clear them all. Shouldn't be an issue anymore. @ivory I was surprised that "chanukka" was in the trending list but not "hanukkah" and yet I see that the latter was used three times more. What makes a hashtag trending or not trending? @geekandi Definitely need details. Is the account muted in Ivory or on the web? If within Ivory, what mute settings are you using? And then where is the post showing up? In your timeline or the hashtag tab? @geekandi Will look into it. Did you have the hashtag muted or the account itself muted? And the account was showing up when look at one of your followed hashtags or trending hashtags? @ivory Just verified that yep, this is still happening as I just tried to mute another account while in the hashtag tab steps: hashtag tab, choose hashtag, choose account, hit settings, mute 1-week, return back, return back even shut down Ivory (Mac btw) and go back in. If I go to my account do NOT see the account muted (web interface) If I block the user in Ivory (Mac) it is blocked in my account (web interface) Hope this helps. @ivory All good except the hashtag picker strips out the camel case I’ve used so I have to click in to replace with capitals when added to a post. So not really useful at the moment. 🫤 @ivory hey, the new hashtags thing is great but is there any way to force it to remember capitalisation? I always capitalise as I heard it’s better for people using screen readers eg CatsOfMastodon. But whenever I select my most used hashtags they’re always all lowercase (catsofmastodon). @Troggie This is a mastodon issue unfortunately. Mastodon returns the most used version of a hashtag and they tend to not use camel case, unfortunately. However if you set CatsOfMastodon as a "featured hashtag”, you will get the proper case show up when composing since Featured hashtags get priority. @ivory ah I figured there had to be a reason. Thanks for explaining. And thanks for the tip about the featured hashtag, I’ll make good use of that. @ivory it took me ages to figure out where the tab was located. It’s not visible on iPhone unless you long press the profile icon on the bottom and replace it with the hashtags one. It’s visible on iPad because it has a larger screen and all the tabs are visible on the left @andreagrandi Yes we plan to update our tab navigation system in the near future. @ivory awesome ❤️🔥 quick question: what do you think about adding the schuld to sort followed hashtags by popularity? |
