@spacekookie dear friend, remember as Brian's friends said, "What have the Romans ever done for us?"

eena meena me

@spacekookie ah, glad to see that these contain the sea-routes

it's called Mediterranean for a reason :P

Mike Torr

@spacekookie Thank you, I will send this to my sister, who studied Latin/Archaeology/Linguistics and also loves the Tube! Perfect.

Miguel de Icaza

@spacekookie @thomasfuchs going to add a small village resisting the Roman invaders in my printout.

Raj Naghee Reddy

@Migueldeicaza @spacekookie @thomasfuchs I freaking love that series of books! As a kid I got scolded by other kids because I was laughing out loud in the library.

rsalz

@spacekookie Do you know if it's available as a print? URL ? Thanks.

(what) the actual duck

@spacekookie So what you're saying is, all roads didn't lead to Rome.

Kookie 🍪 Free Palestine 🇵🇸

@Chimneyswift what are you talking about?? Every part of the network is connected to Rome in some way

Mercurius Goldstein

@spacekookie
In This House we think about the Roman Empire often.

Iwillyeah

@spacekookie I love how Italy is ridiculously big and Britain looks like a knob.

JoelBarr

@spacekookie just finishing a unit on maps with my students. Gonna share this Monday. Many thanks!

@spacekookie

Roman Empire Maritime Services Guild is requesting a word with the artist.

Something about "offensive", "gross tonnage" and "chained to the bench"?

bewitchedmind

@spacekookie Germany still looks quite the same from the train traveller's viewpoint.

Christof Stadler

@bewitchedmind @spacekookie Not true. We have plenty of railways. It’s just that the trains running on them don’t follow any schedule 😉

bewitchedmind

@duckwhistle Still, I visited the UK last summer and was astonished that the trains ran on schedule. @spacekookie

@spacekookie I would like to lodge a complaint about the delay in completion of the Tanais extension. Rescuporides has been promising a through route to Constantinople his entire reign, as did his father Sauromates, and on and on—we’ve been Roman client state for 280 years already!

For all we know we’ll be conquered by Goths before we can get a cart of wheat to the Bosphorous by road.

@spacekookie this is giving me SO MANY ideas!!
From writing to roleplaying, I need to work something out...

@spacekookie
I heard Carthago delenda est. Will I make my connection to Corduba?

TrabendO

@spacekookie This map is terrible, several cities are absolutely not at the right place on the map /facepalm.
Even harbour cities are positioned inland far from the litoral ...

Hispa ♻️

@spacekookie And that's how you make an empire as it should be!

Petrichor

@spacekookie Ah… disappointing that they don't have an actual map to compare

Tio mark

@spacekookie and only include the principal now known roads... there where many more

@spacekookie Das Netz war geil, aber hast du mal versucht beim zuständigen Präfekten Fahrgastrechte geltend zu machen wenn du mal wieder 60 oder mehr Stunden zu spät angekommen bist?

Eva Harasta

@spacekookie It is a very interesting map, thank you for posting it. But why do you have „Free Palestine“ in your account name? What do you mean by this?

@spacekookie
Any in English, with the operators of the lines names and websites?

@spacekookie
This kinda looks something Elder Horrors might have navigated by @cstross

@spacekookie
cool, but why is vienna in switzerland on this map?

Frans Super 🇺🇦🇵🇸🍋[fckpvv]

@spacekookie It tickles my brain so much. Now I want to know the travelers' facilities, transits and timetables. I am planning a trip, and want to know if there are constantly enough mules available.

@spacekookie
We are on "via aemilia" near Bononia, and you? 😊😊

Easydor

@spacekookie
I'm on "Via Germanica" near "Mogontiacum" 👋😃

bartholin
@spacekookie Reminder that Vienna is south of Lugdunum, in Gallia.
Die Nest-WG

@spacekookie looks a bit like a station plan for german subways 😄

@spacekookie This is excellent!

I love that several of the roads are marked for future extensions. 😅

cc @troublewithwords @burritojustice

Triadne

@spacekookie my latin/Italian isn't great, is that major roman roads?

Alfredo Octavio

@spacekookie @wtrmt I'm bothered by the imprecision. Via Flaminia for example, gets to the Adriatic at Fanum Fortunem, then it continues to Ariminium following Via Adriatica.
