For an assignment, I need Mongo DB. The official site recommends me to use Homebrew for that. OK. Here's what Homebrew says:

Warning: You are using macOS 11.
We (and Apple) do not provide support for this old version.
It is expected behaviour that some formulae will fail to build in this old version.
[... more disclaimers that didn't fit in the toot]

I'm so sorry for using a so 2020 operating system!

@bouncepaw yeah homebrew is β€œhilariously” extremely passive-aggressive about that

It sucks, and it’s so damn telling about the mindset

It’s not _all_ their fault (apple policies also drive a lot of this), but goddamn it is a shitty stance

@bouncepaw just use docker?

I came to the conclusion that it's MUCH easier to run any dev-related services in docker (or similar thing) instead of using host system with cringe package managers.

Even on systems without native docker.

@bouncepaw i've been using pixi.sh for system dependencies. it's like homebrew but in rust and uses conda-forge for packages
