@gringomedia @krusynth 1.3ยข or so? (And that's an upper range after doing some searching. My own nets three quarters of a cent? But I'm not <insert pop artist here>.) They're one of the higher-paying services, and used to reach out to artists through their Direct Artists Payout program. But they withdrew that program with final payout in April.

@alice @gringomedia @krusynth They got a leadership change around that time I think. Expect enshittification.
Also they're as guilty in regards to user profiling and data brokerage as everyone else.

Buying music or subscribing on Patreon-like services is still the best you can do.

@Natanox

Agreed there, thoughโ€ฆ ๐Ÿค”

You might be concerned about some of the PII (personally identifying information) I receive in my sales reports.

For example, I could send every domestic American who purchases my music on, I think, either of two services (including the biggest), a personalized thank-you postcard.

Thatโ€ฆ might take a moment to sink in. I wasn't happy to receive what's needed for this in my sales reports.

@alice @gringomedia @krusynth The fuck?

I'm from the EU, but still; why is the home address a necessary information on those sale websites? (รด.o) That would indeed bugger me out somewhat.

Then again, it's the US.

@Natanox @gringomedia @krusynth Not the full address, but with American "zip codes", it's close e-fscking-nough. (Part of why I limited the statement to domestic Americans. ๐Ÿ˜‰)
