@drq But aren't people responsible for the government they've elected? Granted, most of the population are idiots in a classical sense (i.e. detached from the politics), but there's always a core electorate which attunes to the needs and ideas that need to be represented.

The problem isn't the judgement itself, but the choice of subject of that judgement. How can one be responsible for judging the government that came to power by undemocratic means? E.g. through the military coup or by "inheriting" from the tired ruler?

@th3rdsergeevich No. They are not. Fuck this. "National responsibility" and subsequent national humiliation and resulting ressentiment is how every fascist piece of shit dictator got in power, ever, historically.

BTW, finding the scapegoat when you can't physically reprimand or punish the real culprit is a popular solution since the beginning of time.
