@gamingonlinux fundamentally I think their ideas for client side privacy preserving customized ads and micro payments for viewing them which can be used to pay for content was a good one.

It's sad that the implementation was botched but there is so much headwind against replacing the existing fetid system it is an almost impossible job. There's also a certain degree of hypocrisy in people rallying against Brave's ad replacement tactic while simultaneously promoting full on ad blocking.
