@ErikUden@mastodon.de we, uh, yeah, basically had exactly this in a local classic rock station that was on air in the mid-2000s. Pirate 95.9 FM. I can still hear the station identification sketches and they were a lot like that.

I listened regularly because it was better usually than the top 40 station. Then one day I remember cruising down the road and a skit came on where they apparently killed the pirate "mascot" for the station. It was this weird, drawn out thing that lasted several minutes. And then they transitioned to sports talk. I thought it was a bit.

Nope, turns out that's how they handled the transition from a music station to a sports radio station.
