@bobpony 2024: Goggle confirms they will disable Firefox in 2025.

They can do $#%^ about mothra, lynx or w3m though =).

@bobpony I already use Firefox as my primary browser. Always have. Never left.

Chrome has been bloated for a decade, and at this point is unequivocally spyware.

@bobpony i've wondered why people are still using chrome when it has been doing everything to sell you for pennies to anyone asking

@bobpony I'm just gunna go outside and play instead.

@bobpony I hope this will provide a bit more clarity about how much people really tolerate ads.

@bobpony Why the heck people use :google: Chrome to begin with? 🤔 Been using :firefox: on different platforms for ages 😊

Grincheux 🚲

@bobpony I confirm I already disabled Chrome from my computers.

synthBirba

@bobpony@mastodon.social who still use chrome after they started owning the web?

Trash Panda

@bobpony@mastodon.social what do you mean switch to Firefox? Any self respecting individual already uses it or a fork.

@bobpony No. People stay on X. Stay on Chrome. Keep searching with Google. All slaves of capitalism no matter how bad the situation gets. And that should tell you how *** we are when it comes to climate change because no matter the urgency, habits are stronger

@bobpony I’m not going to. I did that at least 3 years ago.

Chrome is creepy AF.

beezy :archlinux: :cupofcoffee:

@bobpony well I’ve been on Firefox for years now so ya know.

@bobpony you see the addition "MV2 extensions" right? In the long term Firefox will also allow only MV3 extensions. Nonetheless, #Firefox is the better #browser!

@bobpony I switched years ago and I don't even use extensions

@bobpony @mariobarisa Wow, real talk though, major douche move google

Cyrille Pontvieux

@bobpony I cannot switch … I'm already using exclusively #firefox 😊

@tdelmas @bobpony @nitot this one is exciting too, but I reckon I regularly (once every 1-2 months) have to switch off the blocker to go through a specific link. I don't know how to make this work easily with a physical device.
Also, personally, I'm connecting to too many different networks to rely on a specific one to do the filtering :)

Sam

@bobpony Try waterfox, in my experience it's a bit faster than firefox.

Giles Goat

@bobpony Easy, I NEVER switched to Chrome, always been using FF 😎

Frikisada

@bobpony I'm not, but only because I've always used it

Michael

@bobpony Already did. Had to stop using Edge because my UBlock Origin had already ceased functioning on YouTube.

Eri

@bobpony I never used chrome to begin with

@bobpony Disabling third-party products to protect their business model is a path to destruction.

I think people have a right to use Ad-blockers on e.g. mobiles and tablets to preserve battery life.

I've seen the running times for non-skipped YouTube Ads and they're now up to 2.5 minutes.

Håkon

@bobpony already using it on my personal devices, at work it is Edge. Wonder if this will affect Edge.

@bobpony

Been there, done that. Happy.
But from Opera.

Chrome? - Have been using it only in very rare cases about 1-2x a year for years. :(

DCC

@bobpony Already have been using Firerfox for many years. It's the default browsers for many Linux systems (which I use because it gives me much more privacy and control over my data).
