@stellarskylark absolutely, all of it, not just the source code: designs, repair documents, operational guidelines unless you're actively contributing to ensuring people using your (obsolete) products can continue to do so, all this information ought to be in public domain @aynish This but also for movies that are dumped for tax writeoffs. Zazlav the Destroyer must be stopped! @aynish I know this will never happen, I’m not a developer. Would a library of Congress type entity where companies had to deposit their code etc, and it would be made public if/when they failed be feasible? @fungalinflectio yes, it would have to be some sort of library/archive but we don't have to stop at software @aynish Including firmware for old synths! But they are SO afraid that we would keep improving their 30+ year-old stuff that they'd sell one or two units less now. Sad. |
