@rogueren @matrix Matrix is fine. It's Element that forked all stuff to enable dual-licensing for commercial forks of their client and servers (most of the work is done by them anyway). Best bet for the time being is to contribute to other Matrix software that doesn't require contributor license agreement, like Cinny and Conduit. Users of software are unaffected until the massive migrations commence - or, you know, admins could still remain on the stable side and use Synapse without Element's participation.
