Stepping stones. Cumbria.

Canon AE-1 Program
Kodak Portra 400
Helios 44M 58mm/2

#BelieveInFilm #FilmPhotography #AnalogPhotography #35mm

A woman (my wife) dressed in a red sweater and plaid skirt, wearing a black backpack, is crossing a river on stepping stones almost entirely submerged by water. She is using an umbrella to touch the next stone as she leans forward.

@Gargron The effect of the sharp focus at the center vs the blur towards the edges has a cool way of drawing the eye back to the subject. Is that a chromatic aberration that's in every shot from this lens?

Eugen Rochko

@annika Yes, it’s a defect of the lens, probably exaggerated by the large aperture.

@Gargron Beautiful area! Any chance you’ll be going to Castlerigg or any other ancient sites?

Eugen Rochko

@nancywisser I'm already gone from the area, unfortunately. I'm longing to return though.

@Gargron out of interest, how do you get your photos developed (seemingly) so fast - do you have a portable darkroom, film scanner?

Eugen Rochko

@andypiper I find a local lab and if they have same day rush I pay extra for it.

@Gargron Lovely photo. Reminds me of Being There.

@Gargron this place looks beautiful, where is it at?

@Gargron Momentarily mistook this for a painting. Thought it was a metaphor, but maybe I've watched Steve Coogan in The Trip one too many times. Great image.

@Gargron One of my favorite classic lenses. I use it quite often on my Fuji cameras, the first shot from 2021 with my old X-S10 and the second from last fall with my X-H2s. Great swirl bokeh.

@Gargron your speed in developing and scanning whilst still on holiday is impressive. Are you the man in this photo?

A shirtless man sitting outside a tent and smoking a pipe develops 35mm photographic film using an Agfa Rondinax daylight loading tank. His wife and sons look on with a mixture of admiration and excitement.

@gcdotdev I simply dropped off a few rolls of film in the local lab 🙂

@Gargron Looks great! The color looks more vibrant to me than your previous shots.

@Gargron Looks like a still from one of those "1000 ways to die" videos.
