@georgetakei Sadly it seems it's the norm for America to simply learn nothing from the past. In fact, we seem to have an amazing ability to *UNLEARN* stuff previous generations learned the hard way.

@zdl @georgetakei I'm afraid you're right on that. People failed to learn the lessons of the not even far off past and fascism is growing more and more dangerous. We've already seen what happens with that -- some may even still be alive who were alive then and know it first-hand -- yet here we are walking right into this face-first all over again. @RodneyPetersonTalent @nazokiyoubinbou @georgetakei We are in the potential precursors to it. @zdl @nazokiyoubinbou @georgetakei Thatโs optimistic. There is virtually no reason to be optimistic about our political future and ability to avoid an apocalyptic draconian type of society or the survival future of carbon based beings on this planet. |
@nazokiyoubinbou @georgetakei Not just the USA.
Canada has a rising tide of reactionary asshole politicians. GERMANY, of all countries!, has a rising tide of populist fascists growing in power. (Indeed most of Europe is seeing massive rises of fascist assholes in government.) India has had a fascist in power for seemingly forever now (I know it's not that long, but 5 minutes of Modi is way too fucking long!). Turkey has Erdogan. Etc. etc. etc.
We're on the brink of another world disaster.
