A reminder as we wake up to the news of another mass shooting: One party’s members walk around Congress with AR-15 pins on their lapels. They aren’t there to help solve the gun violence crisis. They are there to help enable it.

@sekhen @georgetakei Also a dumb population is easier to manipulate through fear. Hence the deliberate underfunding of public education, especially in red states. @starraven @sekhen @georgetakei I think other people arent the ones children shouls be terrified of From your profile Bye @sekhen @georgetakei @georgetakei @georgetakei There is a more sinister purpose in mind for Republicans. They do not care about endangering the public. The voters supporting them also do not care about endangering the public. The innocent people killed in mass shootings are simply collateral damage. Assholes vote for assholes. @IanDSmith Is the corollary here that if I am in favor abortion (choice), birth control, and sex ed that I must also then be pro-choice on guns? As much as I love pointing out logic flaws in conservative thinking, I am concerned this one paints those of us who think guns should be far more heavily regulated into a corner. @mlibby I don’t think logic really comes into it. It’s about socially constructed conceptions of morality. In the case of right wing conservatism, there’s a very strong correlation with authoritarianism as an end in itself. “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition …There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” @georgetakei Because they’re fulfilling their promises to #VladimirPutin for receiving all the #NRACampaignMoney. @georgetakei @tofugolem @georgetakei @Peace_out_art @georgetakei We've been calling them Neonazis for so long. Now they are just Nazis. @georgetakei Enable it? They love it! Not just they're owned and paid byNRA and gun lobby, they love America and Americans' love of guns and the power guns demonstrate. They think deaths from mass shootings and gun violence is price paid for unrestricted freedom of guns. How else can they wear AR-15 pin with news of another mass shooting? How else can only response of thoughts and prayers is the only one they have? They don't just have blood on their hands, they're drenched in it. @georgetakei the GOP is the party of guns, not people. guns are their voters. guns are their constituents. they worship the gun as their god. @georgetakei @georgetakei! Another #GOP sponsored mass shooting event in Lewiston, ME! The #GOP is owned, lock, stock, and barrel by the domestic terrorist group, the #NRA , obvious sponsors of weapons that must be made illegal to own, and once were, by sensible legislators. Ask the Republican #MAGAts when they will vote with Ds to ban assault weapons again, and more. Ask the new#MAGAtSpeaker every day of his tenure, which should be measured in days. #Politics @georgetakei @georgetakei it’s so they can build a justification for their planned genocide. Never mind that most mass shooters are white males. They get to say, “only I can protect you, but first we have to get rid of…. “ (Jews, Asians, transgender… whatever marginalized group is the favored victim du jour). @georgetakei Because the gun manufacturers bought them out. Why do they care if public schooling is basically gambling with your kid’s life anyway, theirs go to private schools. @georgetakei I'm a broken record, I'll say it again: We need to enforce the #SecondAmendment : A well regulated militia! The third part of that amendment : The right of the people to bear arms, that was in relation to the FIRST part, A well regulated militia. Therefore, to enforce the second amendment, we need gun regulations! @georgetakei @georgetakei guns and Bibles get the votes in those crappy places. Who knows what they actually believe. we live in a world where the party against banning guns is the party that produces mass shooters. https://www.axios.com/2023/02/23/mass-killings-extremism-adl-report-2022 Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon. No matter how good you are, the bird is going to shit on the board and strut around like it won anyway. i think the time for debate is over. |
@georgetakei
A scared population is easier to control.
Oldest trick in the dictator handbook.
