The scans of my first roll of HP5 just came in. Most shots turned out quite boring but here is one of my wife that I like.

Canon AE-1 Program
Ilford HP5
Helios 44M 58mm/2

A black and white photo of a woman with dark hair, looking thoughtfully to the side. In the background, there is bokeh that becomes swirlier towards the edge

Yeah yeah.

You just want to show off your wife 🤭

@Gargron that lens is absolutely fantastic! I’ve used it with multiple digital cameras (5D and 6D mk II) and it has a peculiar vibe and bokeh. Congratulations for the picture too!

@Gargron this turned out very well! for some reason, I often find that the only picture I really liked in a roll is also a portrait of my wife 😅

@Gargron I don't know what HP5 is, but that photograph is really pretty 😌

@Gargron Oh yeah, that's a very nice photo!🤩

@Gargron you should print it in darkroom. Scan of bw film is bored.

@Gargron Great shot and a beautiful model!
How long has it been since I last saw a photo with some white spots caused by dust on the film. Now it's just nostalgia, and possibly a concious decision to keep such a 'defect'. Years ago it was such a pain to see something like that on a print, followed by hours wasted on retouche done using ink - I could never learn how to do that properly :-)

@Gargron I think it’s a beautiful candid picture, a brief moment of her in thought

@Gargron looks like a shot straight from Woodstock

@Gargron You're lucky your wife is so beautiful; she makes for all developing and scanning glitches! Just kidding, nice photo indeed
