It finally happened.

It's invidious fulltime from now on.

@neauoire Did you recently empty the cache and refresh its lists? I saw several people talking about it.

@neauoire Oh damn. That's so strange, I have no issues here. :moomin_angry:

@neauoire Just clear your ublock cache, that should do the trick.

Devine Lu Linvega

@musicmatze I use uBlock Origin 1.52.2, how do I clear cache? Purge All Caches under Filter List?

musicmatze :rust: :nixos:

@neauoire TBH I don't actually know, because I did not yet have the issue so I did not yet try out that.
I just saw that mentioned somewhere online...

@neauoire @musicmatze there's a little tutorial on the procedure on the extension's reddit that worked for me

@neauoire yeah, if you already use ublock, then in it's settings - Purge all caches, and then Update now.

Also check out piped as an alternative to invidious (most of the times it works better for me personally) - piped.kavin.rocks/

@vacuumbeef the warning is still there, do I need to close firefox or should it work right off?

vacuumbeef

@neauoire hmmmm, I don't know, I think it worked right away, strange

@neauoire This is outrageous, but also misunderstands (purposely) how the web works: my browser asks your web server what makes up the web page, you send me the recipe to the web page, i chose to render what i want out of that. I'm under no obligation to download *everything* that's in the recipe, sorry. It's your problem if your business model relies on me not checking what's in the recipe and blindly downloading anything in it.

@neauoire Apparently the Firefox version of uBlock is the most effective at evading this.

Clearing the uBlock cache daily is recommended since they're in a arms race with YouTube to update their evasion code. YouTube is changing their code several times a day.

We'll see how long that lasts; Twitch seems to have tech that pretty effectively works around most adblockers.

@neauoire Personally I'm starting to avoid YouTube altogether. For a while I was cross-posting my videos to archive.org, PeerTube and YouTube. Guess I'm down to 2 now.

DHeadshot's Alt

@neauoire Though they're trying to block that too...

@neauoire
Click -> Share -> Embedded link -> watch your video in the player opening.

You are welcome!

@neauoire For me it would be yt-dlp full-time, because I already wrote a python script, which uses it, to download videos in the resolution I want.

I can create a download list and start downloads anytime I want.

It's worth checking it out: github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp

@neauoire i still don't have that. It's rolling out slowly?
