Gregory's Server@FediFollows hang on, peertubers don't get follower counts up if people on mastodon follow them? or is the problem that few people are following them in general?

 @bgtlover @FediFollows Yeah, the latter, they don't get followers if people don't follow them. Not a technical quirk, not Mastodon-specific, just social dynamics and arithmetic. π

@bgtlover The issue is basically that very very few people use PeerTube with a viewer account. Most subscribers come from Mastodon (and I have some from Lemmy too) rather than PT itself. But as with everything else, a PT account will only be discoverable for you on Mastodon once your server knows about it, so this post is attempting to get us followers from a wide range of instances to help federate us more places and hopefully snowball more organic followers from there. @bgtlover p.s. to actually answer your question (π€¦ββοΈ) yes our subscriber numbers do count Mastodon follows, but most of them will be on the user account and individual PT channels will tend to have much lower sub counts |
