@bouncepaw if it offgassed it was either pressurised from being sealed at a higher atmospheric pressure or the contents started to ferment, which might be intentional. Personally I'd give them back - they're either gross/dangerous or a poorly calibrated gift, I wouldn't give 'suspicious fizzy mushrooms' to someone I wasn't sure would be comfortable and appreciate them.
